Our Story
Our story begins during the infamous lockdowns of 2020. Having grown tired of staring at the wall, we each decided to give online dating a go. Carefully crafted profiles sparked interest leading to conversation and the organization of our first date. With nearly every typical outing closed, we decided to meet up at Huntington Beach. Hours flew by as we got to know one another, distracting us from the realization that we had been sitting directly under the summer sun (greatly affecting one person in particular). We continued our conversation under the pier, and by the end of the night we knew a second date was sure to follow.
Early on we spent a lot of time outdoors. We went on our first camping trip to Paso Picacho campground in Cuyamaca Rancho State Park. We enjoyed hiking, fishing, bonfires, and each other's company. Pete especially enjoyed the delicious meals Jen cooked at the campsite (better than he could make at home!).
As our relationship grew, so did our adventures. Our first road trip lead us to Zion National Park. There we grew our trust by crossing the perilous Angel's Landing chain sections and navigating the deep waters of the Narrows.
Further pushing our geographic boundaries we visited Japan for our third year anniversary. Here we tested one another's endurance walking many miles of streets and climbing endless amounts of stairs. We also learned who can eat ramen for every meal and who cannot.. and who wanted to sprinkle matcha powder in every single bite.
The ending of this story takes place on our fourth year anniversary in April 2024 where we returned to Rancho Cuyamaca State Park. After hiking to the summit of Stonewall Peak, and numerous excuses by Pete saying let's wait for the instagrammer taking thousands of pics over the span of thirty plus minutes to leave the platform with the panoramic photo view, he got down on one knee and proposed.
